Cert Octavian opens new 7,500-pallet facility in Dudley

11th December 2007
Cert Octavian has opened a new 7,500-pallet facility in Dudley to increase stock capacity and flexibility for customers. The new bonded site will provide an adaptable solution for overflow from the existing operating sites within the Midlands, and provide more effective accommodation for slow-moving stock.

Dudley will assist customers who exceed their stock holding forecast, ensuring that extra space is quickly available to cope with unexpected peaks.

Michael Lainas, managing director, Cert Octavian explained: "Sadly warehouses don't have rubber walls, so the Dudley site enables the three Cert Octavian sites in the Midlands to provide flexible capacity at close proximity. It's a great safety net for our customers; if they have an extreme peak we will be able to accommodate them at a facility that boasts all the same benefits as the main warehouses."

Slow-moving stock will be clearly identified and then housed securely at the nearby, bonded Dudley site with similar products, until it is fed back into the main warehouses when required by the customer - particularly useful for customers with long lead times from where the stock originates. This will free up space at the other sites and provide a more cost-effective solution for customers.

Lainas concluded: "It stands to reason that storing slow-moving goods in a fast-moving facility is not the most cost-effective solution. And should customers' stock holding volume exceed forecast, which it so often can, Cert Octavian can now securely store it without it affecting the customer's operation."

The Dudley warehouse consists of block stack and racking space and is run by a minimum number of staff, with the maximum amount of care. Full approval was awarded by the HMRC in a very short timescale due to Cert Octavian's recognised expertise in bonded warehousing.
